Steve has witnessed the deterioration in quality service with the advancement of technology and increasing desire for efficiency. Growing up in the South, he has not forgotten the value of hospitality. With an incredible background, Steve brings firsthand knowledge to his position at The Indigo Road.
Steve Palmer’s passion for and commitment to the hospitality industry has been palpable since the age of thirteen when he worked as a dishwasher at an Atlanta, Georgia restaurant. Later promoted from a dishwasher to a line cook at the legendary Houston’s in Atlanta, Steve’s unassuming beginnings in the hospitality arena granted him a comprehensive understanding of the restaurant industry that later led to the success of establishments throughout South Carolina and Florida.
Following his time as member of the opening team at Magnolia, one of Charleston, South Carolina’s most celebrated historic restaurants, Steve was charged with the task of opening Magnolia’s sister restaurant, Blossom. At Blossom, Palmer co-developed and trained the staff on The Fourteen Elements of The Guest Experience which helped establish a lifelong commitment to service.
Palmer left Charleston in 1995 after being recruited as Wine Director and Service Manager at Canoe in Atlanta which received a nomination for the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in the United States and was named one of the Top Five Anticipated Restaurants opening in 1995 by USA Today. Steve then returned to Charleston to become a founding partner for Eidolon. |
